Chicago: Part Two

Finally. The second part of our trip.

After visiting the Shedd Aquarium on our second day, Adam and I met Haley (one of my oldest, closest friends) for a few drinks and some bar food at the Goose Island Brewery on Clybourn. If you ever visit, Adam highly, highly recommends their Inspiration IPA.

Our third day was spent lounging around Haley's Evanston apartment (where we stayed). We walked to a delicious Indian restaurant for lunch and stopped by a grocery store for the ingredients to make homemade pizza (we made it twice in the three days we were there). Old 80s movies, good conversation and a few naps ensued.

Chicago, until next time.

Chicago: Part One

Adam and I are back from a quick trip to Chicago. Even though we were only there for three days, it felt like seven. We did so much in those short seventy-two hours. The first half of our trip was largely spent downtown seeing the sites and soaking up the city. Also, trying to avoid walking directly into the winter wind.

The Art Institute of chicago
The number one thing on Adam's must-see list was the Art Institute. Specifically, the impressionist paintings. That boy knows his Monets from his Manets, let me tell you. We wandered through the special exhibits and some of the modern art as well.

THE Field museum of natural history
I was surprised when we spent more than five hours roaming through the exhibits at the Field Museum. Generally speaking, natural history is my least favorite museum category but we had a blast. Honestly, it might have been my favorite. Adam really surprised me with all he knew about domestic fowl and wildlife in general. He is the outdoorsy/hunting type, I know. But still. I felt like I had a private tour guide.

THE Shedd aquarium
Last but certainly not least. We spent the better part of our second day in the Shedd Aquarium. Penguins, jelly fish, and a baby beluga whale I could handle. A giant and growing green anaconda? Not really my thing. I highly recommend not Googling photos.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year

January? Already? It's kind of hard to believe, but Happy New Year nonetheless! Adam and I went out and celebrated with friends for a while, but bowed out well before the ball dropped. We baked and ate chocolate chip cookies in our pajamas and lounged around watching old 80s movies. And honestly, I'm not sure that's not my favorite way to ring in the new year.

I'm excited about what this new year will bring. 2013, glad you're here.
